The first Platane store was opened in 2006 by two expatriate friends who had a vision to blend the heritage of Chinese culture with a modern lifestyle. Today, Platane has two locations, a larger store in the lively enclave of Taikang Lu (close to Tianzifeng) and another one in the leafy Wukang Road.

I ordered this last week from Taobao (wool jacket in summer?). It's worth checking out the entire shop as they have a few nice things.

Well 2 days or more like 4 days for a heavy sleeper like me :)
So I was in Seoul for May 1st, my first time in Korea. I had 0 expectations but was very VERY pleasantly surprised! Lots of art (who knew?), great design, interesting architecture, cool shops, very friendly and polite people, good food... It's a great escape from Shanghai, less than 2 hours away by plane and with direct flights from Hongqiao to Gimpo Airport (closest international airport) at a reasonnable price (less than RMB2000 if lucky).
Here's a quick summary of my itinerary, it sure isn't the best but it might help you plan your next trip:

Those who have already visited Beijing's Forbidden City might feel slightly unimpressed.

Sometime ago, I had the chance to visit the Johnnie Walker House in Sinan Mansion, the first (and currently only) Johnny Walker House outside Scotland, which was created as a space for whiskey lovers to learn and experience the brand.

Wow, this is certainly one dinner to remember, one of the best I've had in Shanghai till now.
I had been to Kappo Yu a year ago and left unimpressed so I wasn't very enthousiastic about trying Tenya Twenty Two. And upon walking into the restaurant, I felt slightly intimidated by the lack of people (only 2 other customers) and the decor. I am not a big fan of the black-goldish interior but I must say it sets a particular mood: the lack of window makes one loose track of time and sitting at the bar in front of the chefs, I really felt like eating with the gods.

The Fat Elephant was started by 3 thai women who grew tired of Shanghai's bad Thai food and hoped to change things by sharing some true Thai taste. Through their new venture, they organize thai cooking classes for small groups in a homey and friendly atmosphere.
