Shanghai residents all know of Noodle Bull, the affordable Taiwanese noodle soups served in trendy setting. Moving away from the noodle soups, the same owners are giving yakitori grill a try at their new venture Grill Bull.
Sometime ago, I had the chance to visit the Johnnie Walker House in Sinan Mansion, the first (and currently only) Johnny Walker House outside Scotland, which was created as a space for whiskey lovers to learn and experience the brand.
Wow, this is certainly one dinner to remember, one of the best I've had in Shanghai till now.
I had been to Kappo Yu a year ago and left unimpressed so I wasn't very enthousiastic about trying Tenya Twenty Two. And upon walking into the restaurant, I felt slightly intimidated by the lack of people (only 2 other customers) and the decor. I am not a big fan of the black-goldish interior but I must say it sets a particular mood: the lack of window makes one loose track of time and sitting at the bar in front of the chefs, I really felt like eating with the gods.
The Fat Elephant was started by 3 thai women who grew tired of Shanghai's bad Thai food and hoped to change things by sharing some true taste. Through their new venture, they organize cooking classes for small groups in a homey and friendly atmosphere.
Located in the prestigious Bund 18 building, Mr & Mrs Bund is one of Shanghai's fine dinning institutions and even made it to the 7th position of the Miele ranking last year. I could go on but the "modern eatery by Paul Pairet" actually really doesn't need an introduction.
